About this ski
Blossom – as a brand – is mostly known for its front-side skis. They do have a selection of freeride and touring skis. This Pure 99 is the closest they get to a freeride ski. With 99 mm underfoot it is not a wide freeride ski, but somewhere between allmountain and freeride, if you will.
Construction-wise it’s quite simple and elegant. A full wood core and side wall, some fiberglass and not much more. With tip and tail rocker in the mix this is quite an easy-going, flexible ski that has quite a wide range of snow conditions in which it performs really well.
Soft and sure
This is not a very strong ski. Is bends easily and that makes it very easy to carve, even in smaller turns and at lower speeds. In soft snow and bumps, it’s easy as well. It doesn’t chatter, holds a good line, is predictable and smears great too.
The one downside is that it may be too soft for heavier, stronger, or faster skiers. The lack of sturdiness makes it perfect for smaller and less aggressive skiers. But is lacks the oomph to go through stuff or to remain stable at higher speeds.
Conclusion
A great ski for lighter and smaller skiers in all snow conditions. It carves well, and it is great in 3D snow, but it lacks strength for bigger or faster skiers.
