About this ski
Within the Worldcup Rebels line, the e-Race Pro sits right in the middle when it comes to radius. So, right in between the GS-inspired e-Speed (Pro) and the e-SL (Pro). The ‘Pro’ bit refers to the race plate and the heavier construction compared to the ‘normal’ version of the same series of skis. These are high-end, high-ish performance narrow piste skis, made for ripping groomers.
The e-Race Pro features everything you would expect from a ski of this caliber and design brief. Besides the wood core, metal, full sidewall, and full camber – this Head ski, too, features the EMC technology. Energy Management System it stands for, basically Head’s technology to dampen the ski and filter out vibrations.
Tame race ski
Compared to previous versions of the e-Race Pro, this bright blue version seems to be slightly more mellow and manageable. They are not the dead-ish ‘bricks with sidecut’ that they were before. The new e-Race Pro skis are more versatile, slightly easier-going carving skis for demanding skiers.
The e-Race Pro excels in shorter carve turns. It skids, but not as a default setting. In bumps and cut-up runs they stay predictable and stable. In true Head fashion, there seems to be a miniscule delay in the return of energy at the end of the turn. They just seem more tame and sane than previous models and than some direct competitors (Atomic Redster X9 S for example, or the Blizzard Firebird HRC with race plate).
Conclusion
A stable and predictable carving ski for medium and shooter turns. High-end and quite high-performance. But less so than previous renditions or some competitors in the same segment.
